Brushed Nickel Chandeliers

A brushed nickel chandelier is a light fixture that hangs from a ceiling having metal parts that are a brushed dull finish in comparison to the smooth shiny surface of polished nickel. The benefits include easier cleaning and reduced glare. When the surface of the metal is brushed finish instead of polished type, there is less chance of fingerprints showing. The brushed finish also reduces the chances for glare coming from other light sources, therefore allowing for a more romantic setting and it matches with most interior decorating styles.

Of all the various types, locating a five light brushed nickel chandelier is quite possibly the easiest since they top the list when doing an online search for the specific type of metal that is brushed and not polished. The styles are beautiful with light fixtures that open at the top and others that are facing down. One style has lighting that resembles candles. Options for the number of light fixtures on a chandelier include three-light, four-light, five-light and nine-light units. The styles are varied ranging from simple to elaborate. These light fixtures are sold in most home stores, lighting stores and online at several websites retailing chandeliers.

One important factor to consider when purchasing a chandelier is the height of your ceiling. The length of the chandelier from ceiling to bottom will not need drop down so low that you risk bumping your head on it when walking through the room. A contemporary brushed nickel chandelier is a nice addition to a living room, but it will not be very enjoyable if you or your guests are continually having to dodge the light fixture when moving around nearby. If you have vaulted ceilings, you have the freedom to purchase longer and even more elaborately designed chandeliers.

Most chandeliers are designed to be light enough weight to safely hang from your living ceiling. One way to make sure the lighting stays in place is to use a hickey, which is a small piece of metal with a threaded hole in the center.

The hickey must be screwed onto the metal stud near the electrical box and the determining factor on how long it will hold up a chandelier depends on how strong the strap is, as well as the electrical box. You or your electrician will need to check the box for proper usage of a hickey on the stud. If you have any doubt the box and stud will hold the chandelier in place, it is an excellent idea to replace the electrical box and stud that will be holding the weight of the lighting.

When considering a chandelier for your home, consider the brushed nickel variety for a more romantic style that blends well with most decor. You will have less chance for glare to come from other lighting sources, such as the sunlight from the window since the finished surface of the metal is not shiny. You will take great pride in hanging your hampton bay brushed nickel chandelier, knowing that it will be beautiful and functional as well.
