Garden Rock Lights

Garden rock lights form a great attribute to add to your garden, patio or landscape if you want to increase the aesthetic look of your home exterior. Light is a very important way to add some decorative items to your garden and because you can place rock lights at every place in your garden, they are a popular and easy to use type of outdoor lighting. If you want to buy garden rock lights than you first have to choose what type you want, low voltage lighting, solar lighting or rechargeable batteries.

Solar Rock Lights

These are the easiest ones to use and place in your garden. They have an integrated solar panel on top of them which makes them flexible in use. There are absolutely no wires which are attached to the lights but you do have to keep in mind to place them faced to the sun. Because there are no wires or electricity they are well suited for placing in a pond or at the end of your garden, patio. But you can also place them in the grass, at trees or just at your patio.

Solar garden rock lights have high efficient LED lights installed in them. 2 or 3 Lights are enough to create a soft glowing light to illuminate a small area in your garden.

Low voltage Rock lights

The main advantage of using low voltage lighting is because than you can trust on your energy source and place the rocks everywhere you like. You always have to place solar lights faced to the sun but low voltage lights can be placed on every spot in your garden. The hard side of using low voltage is the installation. Installing the wires and working with transformers is not something everybody likes to do. if you don't feel comfortable working with electricity than you better call a professional. If you want to install more rock lights than a piece of advice would be to look for multiple rock lights attached to the same wire, that saves time and effort.

If you want to place your lighted rocks at your pond than make sure to be very careful and not place them directly in the water. You better use solar powered rock lights instead because of the lower risks involved.

Rechargeable Rock Lights

Most often solar rock lights will come with rechargeable batteries which you can use if there is no sun. Instead of letting the sun charge them, you can also decide to charge them yourself and ensure yourself of light at night. There are also rocks available that work solely on batteries but these are start to become obsolete because solar powered lighting has become way more popular.

Materials and Colors

Almost all rock lights are made of a type of plastic called resin. This is a very versatile material which is flexible to work with. Because the LED lights are installed within the rocks, working with resin instead of real rock is much easier. However, there are rock lights available that are made out of real stone. They are a bit harder to find but if you want a natural look in your garden than they are the way to go.

Because resin is a kind of plastic, the rocks are available in different colors. Popular colors to use are grey, dark grey, brown and black. If you put some effort in it than you might be able to find some more colorful ones.
