Create Stunning Effects with Garden Spot Lights

Garden spot lights can create some stunning effects in your outside living space. They come in a variety of different styles and fittings and can be used in many different locations around your garden. They are designed to project an intense beam of light on to a garden feature or object you wish to highlight. They are best used with other lighting to reduce glare.

Low voltage spot lights are suitable for areas where electric cabling can easily be installed. They can be fitted using an adjustable bracket, or a ground spike. Low energy LED 1.5W spot lights are useful when energy usage is an issue. They will run for longer than a standard low voltage lamp. Hi Power LED versions offer brighter illumination using a 3W LED lamp. All mains voltage spot lights should be fitted by a qualified electrician.

Solar garden spot lights are an energy efficient and easily fitted alternative to mains powered versions. The light unit is designed with a solar panel that charges up the battery using sunlight during the day, but will even work in overcast conditions. Once the battery is fully charged, around 8-10 hours of light is provided. The spot lights will come on automatically once darkness falls. When using solar powered spot lights it is important to remember that they will work for longer when positioned to allow maximum light during daylight hours.

Many spot lights designed for external use come with a UV stabilized tough thermoplastic casing that will not flake or rust. Lights are either in black, or brushed silver aluminum. Some are even designed to be submersible. Lamps can either be white, or colored.

Spot lights are ideal for highlighting a particular part of your garden. In the case of water features, the spot lights can be carefully positioned around the edge and angled down into the water. You can also use submersible lights to shine up and provide some stunning light effects, especially if you use colored lights.

Many hotels and public gardens use spot lights to great effect in their landscaping. Large ornamental trees and shrubs often have a small garden spot light positioned at the base, the light angled upwards to illuminate the foliage. Carefully placed spotlights look beautiful at night and used artistically, can create a lovely ambiance. Directional lighting is also great for enhancing architectural features and garden ornaments. Fountains are a popular choice for submersible spot lights as well as directional spotlighting.

When you plan the landscaping of your garden, it is very important to consider the lighting. No matter how stylish your plants look during the day, without some carefully placed spot lighting, your garden will be plunged into deadly blackness once the sun sets. You might know your garden is glorious, but nobody else will have a clue unless you install some lighting!

Garden spotlights can make the difference between a nice garden, and a spectacular garden. Choose your lighting design carefully and see what an improvement it makes to the final result.
