Christmas indoor lights play a very important role on this most celebrated season. Where there is a Christmas tree, and so there are the indoor Christmas tree lights to go with it. They are the highlights of this most extravagant festivity, where everybody gets mesmerized by the blinking and twinkling of these enchanting lights.
As far back as the 17th century, people then used candles attached to the tree’s branches by wax or pins and light them up just before Christmas Eve. Because of the fire risk, Christmas trees are torn down right after Christmas day.
When Thomas Edison invented the first practical light bulb in 1879, his associate, Edward Johnson, thought of stringing some white, blue and red bulbs together through hand wiring, thus the first Christmas lights was ever created. But due to the high cost of materials, it did not become popular not until, then President Grover Cleveland in 1895 decorated the White House Christmas tree with indoor Christmas tree lights. In 1903, indoor Christmas light sets were sold to the public and since then became a part of every household.
Modernization brings about changes, and the simple filament bulbs evolved into a more practical and energy-saving light-emitting diode (LED) Christmas lights. These are energy saving, using only about ten percent of the electricity consumed by the filament bulbs, and safer because LED lights do not get over heat.
