Inground pool lights

by Rachel on June 20, 2010

Inground pool lighting is a fabulous way to accent your pool or spa. By installing inground pool lights in your pool, you can significantly extend the time you are able to use your outdoor pool. Without lights, once the sun sets, you cannot swim in your pool unless you have large halogen floodlights surrounding it. And if you do, you are not likely to be on your neighbours Christmas card lists if they only live a short distance away.

There is usually no drilling or difficult installation for an inground pool light scheme. This type of lighting can be installed at the optimum location with the aid of an adjustable poolside mounting bracket. The cable that comes with the unit will easily stretch across any patio or decking, and is protected by a low profile conduit. This helps to protect against any possible tripping hazard.

Inground pool lights usually come with extra features as required. You can choose to have an internal timer so the lights automatically switch off after 3 or 6 hours. All units have chemical resistant lenses and 5-amp fuse overload protection as standard safety features. The unit will come with all cabling, mounting brackets, plus a transformer. They are very easy to install, even for those people with limited practical skills.

Pools look stunning when lit up at night and they instantly become a feature point in any stylish garden. Inground lights are an excellent way of providing an attractive level of light beneath the water level of your pool. There are many different varieties of lighting available. You can choose from a traditional white light, or even go for colored lights. There are lots of different lighting options to give your pool some dazzling personality.

You can choose options that employ continually changing light-shows with hundreds of color combination's. Think how popular your pool would be. Your house would enjoy an immediate upgrade from “boring” to Play Boy Mansion Pool Party extraordinaire! If you have teenage kids, this type of lighting will ensure they are the most popular kids in their neighborhood. Of course, you might soon discover that you are unable to ever swim in your own pool due to the constant water congestion, but at least it would look pretty from the living room window.

If you prefer something a little subtler than the latest “Voodoo Lounge” lighting scheme, then perhaps you should go for standard white lights, which will illuminate your pool in a far more tasteful fashion.

Inground lighting is also suitable for spas. If you have a small spa on your deck or patio, why not make a feature of it by installing inground pool lights. Your spa will look very attractive at night and you can enjoy some quality time using it once darkness fallen. Think how romantic your spa would become with some soft, ambient lighting and a nice bottle of wine chilling nearby. It is definitely a great opportunity to impress the new lady (or gentleman) in your life.
